An abandoned ship turned photo op on Tomales Bay in Northern California. After being abandoned by the owner, the ship became a magnet for photographers touring the area. Once in danger of being removed by wetlands restoration work, its popularity with visitors and photographers saved it. Unfortunately that same popularity almost destroyed it when one photographer's wool spinning experiment got out of hand, sparking a fire at the stern. Firefighters were able to stop the fire but the stern was completely destroyed. Today there is still a steady stream of visitors who stroll a short distance to snap a shot. I managed to capture it between visitor waves.
