Description

Original photo was of a tree in my yard with a bird's nest. The right side of my brain took over, and this is the result! It's entered in the Digital Darkroom category so please refrain from lecturing me on how it's not a real photograph. 'Severe manipulations' were done with PSE and Virtual Photographer.

Love the rich, dark blue background and the white clouds that remind you of snow, and all those painted stars! I think if you also did one where you painted a larger star off to the upper right, it would make a great holiday card. #927947

My, my, how some people get all bent out of shape because of photo manipulations! If you're wondering what Janet is talking about and have nothing better to do (maybe this site should have a 'rant' link, nah, that's ridiculous!!) you can find her image on Page 10, 'Pink Companion' of the October Finalists. WARNING! It gets heated!!
It's always been my view that if I find something that I would like to critique, I personally contact the photographer instead of blasting it all over this site. Then, if the photographer wants to share it, it's the photographer's perogative!
I wonder if my turning, what will be my next upload, from its original color to B&W be not considered as a photograph! Hmmmm, it started off as a photograph :-)!! Go figure!

Congratulations, Janet...and by the way, you KNOW where I stand on the issue of image abstraction. My view is that a photograph is like a piece of raw marble. A famous sculptor once said, I just remove everything that is not a part of the figure. To me, that's what we do here. We remove, add, adjust whatever is necessary to realize the vision we see in our mind. Whatever we use as tools, lenses, filters, lighting, or PS and the like are like the chisels and brushes of an artist. I think some people are resistant because they lack the skill or courage to reach out for new brushes.
